(Iffah’s Day) Congratulations Singapore!

Congratulations Singapore!

The first photo is me, Nur Iffah, as a baby and and the second is me as a 1 yr 2 mth old toddler now. (Note: Photo of the MPs, Ms Jessica Tan and Dr Maliki, is taken from "East Coast" magazine and cropped with photo of Iffah to look as if the MPs were pointing at the baby's photo in admiration.)

First of all, may I extend my heartiest congratulations to the PAP team (Ms Jessica Tan, Mr Lim Swee Say, Mr Lee Yi Shyan and Dr Mohammad Maliki Osman) in East Coast GRC (where I live) for your success in retaining your seat and responsibilities in this area.

A special thanks is due to Dr Maliki and Jessica for choosing my photo as your good-luck mascot and winning.  But what is really the reason for the success is not the mascot but his and his team members’ dedication in serving the people of this constituency.

The PAP as a whole needs our congratulations and thanks for the wonderful work the PAP Government has done for the people of Singapore not only since the last election but since our independence in steering Singapore to what it is today.

Knowing the PAP well, their resounding win across the island – the charming “Red Dot” – with a near 70% mandate, (except losing out very narrowly in two areas), would perform even better in the next five years to show their dedication to Singaporeans. As what the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had recently said, the celebration of SG100 would be even better and happier.  Let that happen, please, because my cousins and many other children, including me, insyaAllah (God-willing), would live to see SG100 being celebrated.  We want to be proud of Singapore and contribute towards its success, prosperity and happiness.

To the opposition parties, my advice is not to have too many parties which simply reveals that you were not able to be united and what is more, you need to work even harder now – a healthy challenge without destroying each other is welcomed by all Singaporeans. They too have worked hard but the better man wins.

A new chapter begins for Singapore from today.  Let us all work together and further enhance peace and harmony, which we have enjoyed thus far, in keeping to our national pledge of being united as one united people irrespective of race, language and religion.

Majulah Singapura (Forward Singapore).
